Therapy for Mental Health Professionals

You're Learning to Care for Others. Who's Making Space for You?

When becoming the person who supports others starts to feel overwhelming.

There comes a point when learning to understand others brings you face-to-face with parts of yourself.

Why now

Imposter syndrome, clinical uncertainty, perfectionism, emotional exhaustion, the pressure to get it right, and the challenge of finding your footing while becoming the professional you hope to be.

Therapy for Future & Practicing Mental Health Professionals

Training and working in the mental health field means learning to understand human behavior, recognize emotional patterns, and support people through difficult experiences. But becoming—and being—a mental health professional can bring its own challenges.

Maybe you're questioning your abilities during practicum, struggling with imposter syndrome, feeling emotionally overwhelmed by clinical work, or putting pressure on yourself to become the kind of therapist who always has it together. Perhaps you're already practicing and finding it difficult to balance the emotional demands of your work with your own needs, relationships, and personal life.

You deserve a space where you don't have to be the therapist.

Inner Axis Therapy offers virtual individual therapy throughout Texas for graduate students, clinical interns, emerging clinicians, and practicing mental health professionals pursuing careers in social work, counseling, psychology, and related fields.

Sessions available in English and Portuguese.

When the Work Starts Affecting You Personally

Sometimes the challenges aren't limited to coursework, clinical placements, or the demands of your job. They begin showing up in how you see yourself, relate to others, and move through your everyday life.

You might recognize yourself in some of these experiences:

You don't have to experience all of these challenges for therapy to be meaningful. Sometimes, one recurring pattern is enough to deserve your attention.

What We Can Work Through Together

Therapy isn't about becoming a more perfect student, a more capable clinician, or someone who always knows what to say. It's about understanding yourself beyond the roles and expectations you carry. Together, we can explore what's underneath the pressure, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and create room for a more grounded way of navigating your personal and professional life.

Developing Self-Trust

Learn to make decisions, tolerate uncertainty, and recognize your own capabilities without constantly seeking reassurance or comparing yourself to others.

1

Understanding Perfectionism

Explore the beliefs and expectations driving your need to get things right, and develop a more flexible relationship with mistakes, growth, and uncertainty.

2

Creating Healthier Boundaries

3

Recognize when you're taking on too much responsibility, practice communicating your needs, and make room for relationships and experiences outside of your professional role.

Processing Emotional Experiences

4

Make sense of the emotions, experiences, and relational dynamics that can follow you beyond the classroom, internship, or workplace.

Building a More Sustainable Relationship With Your Work

5

Explore who you are beyond your professional goals, academic achievements, and role as a helper. Make room for your own needs, values, relationships, and sense of direction.

Reconnecting With Your Identity

6

Develop greater awareness of your emotional limits, recognize patterns of overextension, and find ways to remain connected to meaningful work without consistently neglecting yourself.

Therapy isn't another place where you need to demonstrate what you've learned. It's a place where you can be understood, challenged, and supported without having to be the expert.

I'm Andressa Little, a Licensed Master Social Worker practicing under clinical supervision in Texas. My clinical background includes inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, and private practice, where I've worked with individuals navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, emotional difficulties, and significant life transitions.

My approach to therapy is relational and insight-driven, informed by attachment theory and complemented by CBT, ACT, EFT-informed principles, and trauma-informed care. I believe meaningful change involves more than learning to manage difficult emotions. It also means understanding the experiences, relationships, and deeply ingrained patterns that shape how we see ourselves and interact with the world.

I recognize that people in the mental health profession are often accustomed to reflecting on others' experiences, identifying patterns, and thinking critically about human behavior. But having the language to understand psychological concepts doesn't mean you always have the space to explore your own experiences.

In therapy, I want to offer something different: a space where you don't have to be the one doing all the understanding.

You can show up uncertain, overwhelmed, curious, or simply unsure of where to begin. You don't need to have the right language or a clear explanation for what you're experiencing.

My goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, strengthen self-trust, and create meaningful changes that extend beyond the therapy room.
