Therapy for Mental Health Professionals
You spend so much time understanding others. Who's Making Space for You?
A place where you can come as you are. You don't have to have it figured out, be insightful, emotionally available, capable, or put together.
Why now
There is a person behind every helping role.
Before the credentials, the education, the responsibilities, and the work, there is a human being with a life of their own.
Inner Axis Therapy is a place to make room for that person. Not to become a better version of yourself for everyone else, but to understand yourself, feel more connected to your own life, and experience what it is like to be met with the same humanity you extend to others.
Therapy for Graduate Students, Therapists & Mental Health Professionals
If you're studying or working in mental health, you're learning to pay attention to what happens beneath the surface. You learn to listen, ask questions, recognize patterns, and make room for experiences that are difficult to put into words. But who makes room for you?
Not the student, the clinician, the person who knows the language of emotions or has learned how to recognize patterns. Just you. The person who has their own relationships to figure out, their own history to make sense of, their own disappointments, fears, needs, and uncertainties.
Maybe you've become so accustomed to reflecting on your experiences that you find yourself analyzing instead of feeling. Maybe you understand why you respond a certain way but still wish things felt different. Maybe you're tired of being the person who is always expected to understand, accommodate, or hold things together. And perhaps you don't need another person telling you what you should be working on.
You need somewhere you can take off the professional hat. Somewhere you don't have to translate every experience into psychological language, demonstrate self-awareness, or make sure you're making progress.
I want Inner Axis Therapy to be that kind of space.
A place where you aren't being evaluated, observed, or expected to have the answers. Where you can be contradictory, uncertain, emotional, quiet, or simply unsure. You are allowed to be a work in progress without making your entire life a project. Because your humanity deserves attention, too.
Sessions available in English and Portuguese.
What You Might Need Space For
You don't need to arrive with a specific goal. Sometimes, it starts with something you've been carrying for a long time and haven't had the chance to explore.
-
When nothing feels quite good enough, mistakes stay with you longer than they should, and you struggle to offer yourself the understanding you readily give others.
-
When you recognize where your reactions come from but still find yourself repeating familiar ways of thinking, feeling, or relating.
-
When you anticipate others' needs, take responsibility for how they feel, and struggle to recognize what you need in return.
-
When closeness, conflict, vulnerability, or setting boundaries bring up feelings and reactions you haven't fully made sense of.
-
When responsibilities and expectations have taken up so much room that you have lost touch with what you want, value, or enjoy.
-
When you don't want to analyze, explain, or find a solution. You simply want room to talk, feel, and be heard.
Together, we can explore the patterns, relationships, expectations, and experiences that shape how you move through life, while finding new ways to respond to the things that feel difficult.
What We Can Work Through Together
Therapy isn't about fixing everything you don't like about yourself or turning every difficult experience into an opportunity for improvement. It's an opportunity to slow down, become curious about your experiences, and understand yourself with greater honesty and compassion. Together, we can explore the patterns, relationships, expectations, and experiences that shape how you move through life.
01. Developing a Different Relationship With Yourself
Explore the expectations you place on yourself, the way you respond to mistakes, and the difficulty of extending yourself the same understanding you offer others.
02. Making Sense of Your Emotions
Create space for feelings that may be difficult to name, understand, or express. Explore what sits beneath your reactions rather than feeling pressure to manage or explain everything.
03. Understanding Your Relationships
Explore how you connect with others, navigate conflict, communicate your needs, and respond to closeness, distance, and uncertainty.
04. Recognizing Patterns That Keep Repeating
Understand how past experiences, family dynamics, and learned ways of relating may influence your present life. Develop new ways of responding when familiar patterns emerge.
05. Making Space for Your Own Needs
Explore boundaries, guilt, responsibility, and the difficulty of prioritizing yourself. Make room for relationships and experiences in which you don't always have to be the one giving.
06. Reconnecting With Who You Are
Explore your identity, values, interests, and sense of direction beyond your professional role, academic achievements, and expectations of others.
Before you are a therapist, counselor, social worker, psychologist, or student, you are a person. You don't have to turn every experience into insight, every struggle into growth, or every emotion into something you need to understand. Therapy can be a place where you don't have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have the answers. You can simply show up as you are.
Meet Andressa Little, LMSW
I'm Andressa Little, a Licensed Master Social Worker practicing under clinical supervision in Texas. My clinical experience includes inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, and private practice. I've worked with individuals navigating anxiety, relationships, emotional difficulties, and significant life transitions.
My approach is relational and insight-driven, informed by attachment theory and complemented by CBT, ACT, EFT-informed principles, and trauma-informed care. Something I believe deeply is that people are more than the roles they fulfill, the responsibilities they carry, and the ways they've learned to function.
We can become so accustomed to being capable, understanding, and available to others that we forget there are parts of ourselves that need attention, too.
I want therapy to be a space where you don't have to earn understanding by explaining yourself perfectly. You don't have to arrive with insight, demonstrate progress, or know exactly what needs to change. You can bring the parts of your life that feel complicated, the things you haven't said out loud, and the experiences you may not fully understand yourself.
Together, we can pay attention not only to what you share, but to what happens as you share it: what feels difficult to say, what you find yourself holding back, and what you may need but struggle to ask for. My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you can experience being understood without having to perform understanding yourself.
